Renaissance Percussion Ensemble

Ensemble Renaissance Percussion was founded in 2005 by Vladislav Ivanov and Arseny Shulyakov, soloists of the MariinskyTheatre Symphony Orchestra. The ensemble is two-times first prize winner of the International Rachmaninoff Ensembles Competition (2005 and 2012).

Its repertoire is constantly being expanded and currently includes both original works for percussion written by contemporary composers and various works by Russian and foreign composers of different eras arranged for percussion instruments, written mostly by the members of the ensemble themselves.

The Renaissance Percussion ensemble often collaborates with opera soloists and brass ensemble which makes their performances memorable and constantly amaze the audience.

Two-times 1st prize winner at the International Rachmaninov Ensembles Competition, Renaissance Percussion sought glory and recognition from the very beginning.

The Ensemble Renaissance Percussion was founded by Vladislav Ivanov and Arseny Shulyakov in 2005. Initially it consisted of six percussionists from the Mariinsky Theatre’s percussion section, and over time the number of members grew to eleven. That same year, beginning its concert activities at home and abroad, the ensemble won first prize at the International Rachmaninoff Ensembles Competition. Rachmaninov International Competition in St. Petersburg. Seven years later, in 2012, the ensemble won first prize again at the same competition.

The ensemble’s repertoire is constantly being expanded and currently includes both original works for percussion written by contemporary composers and various works by Russian and foreign composers of different eras arranged for percussion instruments, written mostly by the members of the ensemble themselves, often involving solo vocals, harp, flute, brass ensemble, etc, which adds new colors to the already bright and unusual sound of melodic, rhythmic and noise percussion instruments. The Renaissance Percussion ensemble leaves no audience indifferent at the concert, and adults and children alike will be captivated by the sound of the percussion instruments!
